NARE currently are the Project Advisor to Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd of Japan for the development and operation of SHI’s first Gasification Pilot Plant in Jeli, Kelantan State, Malaysia. This plant undertakes trial operations utilizing various biomass feedstocks (Wood chips, Wood pellets, EFB pellets, PKS, Bamboo chips etc) to evaluate technical and commercial feasibility and viability.

We have conducted extensive studies on a range of biomass feedstocks to assess them for suitability as feedstock for the gasification plant to produce biochar. We are also identifying and engaging with potential feedstock suppliers and biochar off takers to support the commercialization of SHI’s biochar business in Malaysia and the region.
